62nd COPPA Intereuropa (Monza: 19. - 21. Juni 2015)
The pastime of collecting Old Cars was actually born in England, many years before the War. After the War, collecting boomed and races of old cars increased greatly as well. The U.S.A, Continental Europe and Italy too got carried away by this fashion and the Federazione Italiana Automotoveicoli d’Epoca (Italian Federation for Old Cars and Motorbikes) was founded in 1960.
At the beginning, the owners of the most famous cars for their historical and collecting value were racing with very valuable vehicles, in terms of their rarity, such as the Alfa Romeo cars, the pre-War Maserati cars, the 12-cilinder Ferrari, the pre-War Bentley cars, the French Bugatti, Delage, Talbot, the German Mercedes and BMW, the Aston Martin, the early Cooper, Lotus etc.
During the years, the “Old Cars” became “Historical Cars”; the parameters to be considered classical and historical cars have changed more and more through the years, and now it is registration from 1981 and earlier. Together with this change, the value and the prices of the “real” Old Cars have raised dramatically.
The number of those who take part to competitions using Old Cars has increased a lot during the years; the performances have been levelling off and the competitions have become more interesting from a competitive and sport point of view.
In the context of the Post-War booming economy, Old Cars gatherings were organised in Italy as well and particularly in the National Monza Circuit, with parades and races with famous pilots: the Historical Intereuropean Cup was created.
The Intereuropean Cup has been acknowledged by the national and the international press as one of the most important European events of the sector, for the quality of its cars, pilots and races. The 62nd editon is going to be richer in its contents, that are the key aspect for the partecipation of the public, made of both enthusiasts and ordinary people.
